It’s a Lot Like Fishing :: How to Convert Facebook Fans Into Customers [Infographic]

cCOne of the biggest challenges with social media has been identifying the return on investment. A study recent by Syncapse, indicated that a Facebook “like” could be worth up to $174. While businesses and social media marketers alike understand the necessity of building a Facebook following, for many the conversion from fan to paying customer is still puzzling.

According to digital engagement firm the Abbi Agency, making the conversion is like fishing — you have to set the bait and reel them in. They’ve created a three-pronged strategy for using Facebook to drive traffic, and you’ll find their infographic below.

Converting Facebook fans into paying customers on Facebook and other social media pages is a lot like fishing: It takes:
1. Patience
2. Knowledge of conversation rates, and
3. strategic thinking.

Facebook fans, like fish, are fickle. They get distracted and they lose interest. We never want this to happen and we want our social media sites to offer more then just simple announcements about our business.  It keeps your business and brand in front of them more often, and they enjoy reading the content.

Your Social Media Content Goal is:

STEP 1. Post 50% Engaging Content which includes text updates like questions and fill-in-the-blanks, links to awesome third party content, and photos that are funny, inspiring and educational. Watch how these will keep people interested in your social pages.

THE GOAL is to get clicks in the form of: likes, comments, and link views. We want to make sure that we are giving away content that is: easy to click, easy to consume, and easy to swallow.

THIS IS KEY: Always remember that because of Facebook's algorithms, the more clicks you get today, the more visible your posts will be tomorrow --- including the ones with baited hooks.

STEP 2. Post 50% Promotional Content. Types of promotional content are in the form of announcements, videos, posters, photos, and even Blogs written specifically from an your companies perspective.

THE GOAL here is to get fans to taste, the bait, chase the bait, take a bite and get reeled in. We're going to be posting engaging content first, then promoting our own content.  We need to do so continuously and consistently.

THE KEY: We're building the Facebook algorithm for your page so that your promotional posts are seen by many of your followers and their friends, rather then a few.
